A Christmas in July Blog Hop!

Scrap Our Stash: Christmas In July Blog Hop July 22-25

Hello! Today is the start of the Scrap Our Stash Christmas in July Blog Hop. The design team and guest design team members of the Scrap Our Stash Challenge Blog are in a Christmas mood and sharing holiday-related projects. I'm the last stop on our blog hop so if you've come from Stephanie's blog you're in the right place. If you happened to have just stumbled upon this post, be sure to start at the beginning at Scrap Our Stash so you don't miss anything!

My Christmas-inspired project today is a layout about last Christmas up at my in-laws in Montana. When you find yourself in a small town in the middle of nowhere, you have to get creative! My DH and I had the thought to make up massive batches of gingerbread dough for four different pairs of the family to work on their masterpiece gingerbread house. It was a 3-day affair to make all the dough, cut out the pieces, and assemble. My layout features some of the pictures throughout the process, including the Marmon Tower!

I used DCWV papers for my main base to my layout. Accents were added with Making Memories cut-outs on chipboard for some dimension and Making Memories felt letters for my title. Click the image to view it blown up. :)

A little about Scrap Our Stash...
At Scrap Our Stash the challenges are all about getting you to use your current stash of scrapbooking supplies to create layouts and cards. Each month two challenges are set forth for readers: one to use a particular item or technique in their project and one based on a sketch. Readers then submit their entries directly for chances to win guest design team spots or prizes! Consider taking on one of the monthly challenges yourself!

And for getting this far in this long post....there's a chance for some blog candy! Just leave a comment on this post telling me what type of gingerbread house you would make. I'll pick one lucky winner to receive this:

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to head back to Scrap Our Stash to find out how to enter for the grand prize of our blog hop! Oh, and your secret word from my blog is "FRIENDS." Remember, you have until 8PM Central on Sunday to get your entry in!

Cute layout! I am hungry just thinking about it:) My gingerbread house would have to be egg, gluten, dairy and soy free due to allergies in our household. They would also have to be dye, and sugar free and not be processed. Anyone up for a watermelon, strawberry and kiwi gingerbread house??? :)

I still have gingerbread dough in the freezer and two houses that need to be dismantled. I think I would like to make a gingerbread farm house with all the cuteness I could design in. We sure had fun with the all the company we had durning the Christmas break. It was not a boring time.

What a cute layout and idea! We make a gingerbread house w/ our kids every single year-- Since the kids are only 5 and 3, the houses have been standard size. But, I would love to make a Victorian Gingerbread house!

That is a great LO. My hubby designs roofs. I would love it if my family made a gingerbread house together and then top it off with a roof that hubby designed.

Great pictures and layout! I haven't made a gingerbread house before but if I did attempt one I would like a nice little cottage setting with a bridge, valley, etc.

I don't even know if I've ever made a gingerbread house! Maybe I'll buy a kit this year. :)

Love the layout! Making gingerbread houses is an annual tradition with our family. We like to include lots of colorful candies and peppermints in our village of gingerbread houses!

Cool--looks so much fun! Honestly I have never made gingerbread house. I know my sister and her family does as part of their tradition. I may start one this year with my daughter. If I make one, it would be a spongebob gingerhouse because my daugther's daddy love spongebob. lol

I'd want to make a gingerbread house out of nonfood material, because I'd want to keep it, not eat it, LOL!
My granddaughter is only 2, so we'd probably make a very simple one because she'd probably start eating before we were done.

Hi Laurie...love your LO! So fun...we love gingerbread houses, but I just buy the Costco pre-made ones.. (usually 2 of them every year).

Cute layout and gingerbread houses - I try to do one from a kit each year with the Grandkids - we make a BIG mess - but's it's lots of fun!

if i had the talents to make a gingerbread house, i'd love to do a replica of the neuschwanstein castle. that or the real hansel & grete house. the way it was described, it was irresistible to not want to nibble on he house. love your layout and your perseverance to bake, cut and assemble!
